Same sex marriage: Two Grooms

One of the wonderful things about a wedding is that it brings people from different families, and often different cultures and countries together. It’s amazing the journeys family and friends take in order to be there for their loved one’s special day.

David and Fabrizio’s small yet perfectly formed wedding that I was invited to photograph a few weeks ago was no exception. David is Canadian and Fabrizio is Italian and they live together here in London. So their special day brought together a tight knit combination of friends and family from Italy, Tunisia and London, with David’s mother present throughout the ceremony via FaceTime from Canada.

The lovely (and emotional!) ceremony that made them lifelong partners, was held at Southwark Register Office in London. The Grooms looked so handsome in beautifully stylish suits and stunning buttonholes from Pesh Flowers.

Once the ‘I do’s were complete, we could hang out in the lovely garden for photographs before taking a short walk to their reception at The Crooked Well pub, just round the corner.

David and Fabrizio were up for lots of photos and the walk to the pub with a small selection of their guests was great fun - we found photo opportunities at bus stops (in true London style!), by graffiti covered walls, and in beautiful parks. We captured everything from quiet reflective moments to group ‘jazz hands’.

The Crooked Well pub is down a residential side road and is gorgeous inside. The upstairs room for the wedding reception was laid out beautifully. The flowers were absolutely stunning in autumnal colours complete with little pumpkins. As usual, I got rather carried away photographing the flowers but I couldn’t help myself - the whole set up was just gorgeous.

After a final group shot outside the pub, it was time for me to leave them to carry on hitting the champagne and party on into the night.

Huge congratulations David and Fabrizio!
