Birthday party photography

I always talk about how fast time flies when you're having fun. Since having the little ones it's flown even faster. So I couldn't quite believe it when my baby boy's first birthday came shooting round.

Already on his feet and clumsily toddling around, curious about everything and determined to carry things twice his size, soft play was clearly the best option.

Soft play is fantastic for physical development - hand / eye coordination, muscle strength and flexibility. Plus it is of course a soft place to safely fall when we get too excited and lose our balance!

So, thanks to Bug's Soft Play, our garden transformed into a children's paradise with a ball pit, mats, rockers, up and down roller coaster, giant blocks, and a bouncy castle to boot. The adults had to settle for a BBQ and plenty of booze (plus the occasional bounce on the castle with one of the little'uns!).

The (gentle) bouncy castle action of course had to be with an adult in tow but his sister, cousins and friends were in their element.

The colourful backdrop, different shapes and of course giggling children also created the opportunity for some lovely, fun photography. And not just from the 'proper' camera - we have some fantastic iPhone action shots too!

Will he remember it in years to come? Very doubtful. But we will!
